History

History

This tradition was started by two neighbors, Fran and Dick. It began in 1982 with a single string of lights. As Fran and Dick continued to one-up each other, their respective displays grew. Over the years, friendly competition shaped the court into the spectacle that it is today. By 1986 every home on the court was brightly lit and lasting friendships were formed.

In 1991 we began our support for the Food for Families charity. Each year our food collection bins are filled with an average of eight tons of food. 100% of all food and money collected directly benefits local area food banks.

Over the years, there have been many special events and visitors to the court. We have had marching bands, car and motorcycle clubs, fire trucks and various other musicians grace our court. We have even overheard a few marriage proposals. Tradition runs deep; we often hear people telling their children that their parents used to bring them to see the lights.
